Projects

Peter has played a role in numerous market coupling projects, connecting both day-ahead and intraday power markets across national borders. He has also been involved in balancing market, congestion management and market monitoring projects.

Peter’s IT skills and experience lie in the fields of business analysis, requirements engineering, system design, vendor management, and project management. Throughout his career, many projects allowed him to deploy these skills.
SDAC (EPEX Spot, ECC, various projects, 2006-2014, 2018-2020, 2023–2024)
Back in 2006, Peter was part of the team that established the very first coupling of day-ahead markets between France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. After this milestone, he joined several projects that significantly expanded the day-ahead coupled region, establishing what is currently known as SDAC, the Single Day-Ahead Coupling across Europe.

His roles involved information and business analysis, project management, vendor management and general consultancy. Deliverables included a functional architecture, a high-level business process, system specifications and various system tenders.

His roles involved information and business analysis, vendor management and general consultancy, including grid code analysis and work on various multi-party agreements.
Deliverables included analysis and design contributions in the areas of coupling and post-coupling processes (shipping, system losses) and system performance and in general towards the review of the system specifications and business processes, drafting of the first public description of the intraday algorithm, contributions towards the official listing of intraday algorithm requirements.

His most recent contribution involves analysis of the possibility to implement flow-based capacity allocation in the continuous market.

Balancing Markets (Amprion, 2022-2023)
Peter supported Amprion application management in connecting the German mFRR (manual Frequency Restoration Reserve) solution to the European MARI platform. Work involved PMO services, development planning and management and budget planning and management on behalf of the four German TSOs.

Congestion Management (TenneT NL, 2022-2023)
Peter provided support in implementing the 2022 grid code change, which introduced the CSP (Congestion Service Provider) role and extended congestion management to lower grid levels. Work involved project management and business analysis.

Market Monitoring (CRU and UREGNI, 2017-2018; CERA, 2022-2024)
When the Irish and the Cypriot regulatory authorities respectively implemented a wholesale electricity market compliant with the European Network Codes, they required development of a market monitoring analytical strategy. Peter was responsible for the data component in these strategies.
